Today church bells are ringing like crazy while people kill other people in the lands where this cult is said to have started. The bells are not in protest at the killing but are rather a reminder of power and authority. Most people used to have religion to tell them what to think; some still do. Today many are instructed what to think by (anti)social media which has replaced religion as the philosophy of the masses, as Schopenhauer described it. Today, like any other day, would be an opportunity to stop and think for ourselves. Instead we turn to glowing screens or medieval superstitions to tell us what to think and become angry or violent when someone says that is what we are doing.
