A few days ago I was in a pharmacy. A guy in front of me was being attended to by one of the people working there. His posture was terrible. His back was bent like an ancient old woman. His shoulder were hunched and rounded. His head jutted forwards like one of the space-suited aliens in the movie the Fifth Element. He was asking for something to treat his neck pain and the pharmacy worker was politely trying to suggest that, yes she could give him a painkiller but maybe he should think about going to a doctor to figure out what is causing the pain. She obviously knew and could easily see his posture but she was too polite to directly say it. I was served by another worker and left while they were still discussing.
I think this is becoming more and more common, bad posture caused mainly by mobile device use as well as working at badly arranged desks and either not exercising or exercising aimed at bigger arms and stronger upper body but without cross-training. For example the swimmers I see training for competitions have huge shoulders but weak core muscles and with time many of them also collapse into a hunchback posture out of the water.
Women seem to suffer from this less, maybe because of the popularity of yoga for women or maybe because women feel the pain associated with jutting head earlier because of lower supporting muscle mass.
