Sometimes I think we need a modern day Socrates to come along and ask questions to people to make them realise how little they know with any certainty. Unfortunately we seem to have quite a few people these days who have been, quite frankly, brainwashed into believing all sorts of nonsense. Today I read something online which stated, without any irony at all, “everybody is welcome” (diverse sexual orientations or physical attributes) immediately before listing various groups of people who are not welcome (different opinions or beliefs). Maybe you don’t need to as smart as Socrates to spot the logical inconsistency there but actually opening people’s eyes to their own modern-day prejudices, bias and ignorance might need someone of his ilk. Nonetheless we have made some progress; a modern day Socrates would no longer be required to drink hemlock and would simply be cancelled. Maybe I should start a hashtag #agreewithmeordrinkhemlock
