Cultural Imperialism

The USA is a hegemony. American culture and ways of thinking are spread around the world through entertainment, social media and numerous other ways. Youngsters around the world stare at their smartphones much of the day, developing their worldviews as digital natives largely from what other people write or say. Those who understand English are subjected to seemingly endless indoctrination from the USA: how to oppose racism, how to oppose discrimination, what is your sexuality, what is gender, what is race, what is consent, what should you try to do at work, what should be your sense of purpose, how should you live your life. USA-centric conscious and unconscious biases are spreading from only 4% of the world population, from what might be the most racist, corrupt, discriminatory and inequitable societies in the world; yet the same population somehow pretends to tell the rest of the world how to not be like that, pretends moral leadership. However Americans are not typical of the world population and are certainly not moral examples to follow. The rest of the world should not aspire to the levels of racism, bigotry and division that are present in the USA and should similarly not aspire to the “solutions” proposed to USA-specific problems.
