chicken necks

I am watching a guy, who looks to be around 30. He has obviously put time and energy into working out to make his biceps bigger. He has paid for his fashionable arm tattoos. He has spends money on his hairstyle and neatly trimmed beards. Yet his pushed forward “chicken neck” looks terrible. From the side I can see the centre of his head jutting forward about 30cm from his torso’s centre line. That is at rest; when he talks with someone he pushes his head even further forward. Why does he spend so much time, money and effort on his appearance and yet completely misses such a critical point thing for his health? I recently realised that this very common chicken head thing seems to have several causes. Of course looking down smart phones is a factor. However I noticed also the it is easier to speak Swiss German if you thrust your head forward – the sounds come easier. I have also wondered for a while why people in Swiss German cities walk into each other so much. Then I noticed that when people stare at oncoming pedestrians (as they tend to do in German parts of Switzerland) and have their heads upright then they simply turn the head as they get closer together in order to continue to stare and carry on walking in their intended direction. However with a chicken head then the whole head and neck turns to stare as people get closer, turning the shoulders and body and causing a collision or near collision.
