I sometimes read about so-called “white privilege” and very occasionally hear people talking about it. This is interesting that people seem to be more willing to write it than to say it, as if they somehow know it is wrong. I don’t think it is completely wrong but I think it is mainly applicable to certain groups of people in the USA and is not generally applicable around the world.
Another interesting phenomenon is that Anglophones think that being monolingual is normal. It is not. The majority of people around the world are bilingual or polylingual. Monolinguists are in a minority. Nonetheless, English dominates major international scientific publications, international business, etc. Native English speakers have an inherent advantage in this, which I have decided to call Anglophone privilege.
